Mudslides caused by torrential rains in San Juan Cosala Area on October 5th, 2021.
This was sent out to Operation Feed Donors on October 10th, 2021
Good morning everyone - I just wanted to let everyone know what is happening in the San Juan Cosala area regarding the flood/mudslide victims and Operation Feed.
On Thursday we passed out clothing, bedding, towels, etc. to villagers that needed help. (thank you to everyone that donated items)
Yesterday Agustin, Jon Seaborg and I met with several families to understand their needs. One young mom that we talked to had 5 feet of mud in her house. She basically has lost everything. When asked what she needed the most she said a crib for her infant daughter. Please let me know if you know of any- one that has a crib.
We have started a fund for flood/mudslide donations at Viva Mexico. All funds collected will go directly to the victims.
We are also collecting furniture, beds, mattresses, bedding, tables, stoves, refrigerators, sinks, toilets, building supplies, etc. All items can be dropped off at Viva Mexico and will be stored until houses are re- stored and items can be delivered. If you have donations and cannot drop them off at Viva Mexico please contact myself by email or ( 376.766.6044 ) or Cheryl Kennedy ( 376.765.4415 ) to arrange for a pick-up.
Thank you to everyone that has already donated items or made a donation to the flood/mudslide fund. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you so much for sharing your heart with the people of San Juan Cosala. Janine
Operation Feed ended up helping over 30 families that were affected by the mudslide. Several lost everything they had including their homes. We set up construction accounts for several families that had to rebuild their houses.
At Christmas time one of Operation Feeds Angels Collette Clavadetscher collected over 150 toys for the children that were in the mudslide and lost everything. I never saw so many smiles on children’s faces.
